You must have a small fist or big fingers. What vehicle is it, no need to take out the engine ( unless its in the way ). Just disconnect the battery and watch out for fuel lines and weld splatter on glass
Hey guys how is all. I've got some heavy rust in my fire wall on the drivers side there 2 fist sized holes and on the passengers side you can get a few fingers through. Took the aircon out yesturday and found more just above. In the middle of setting up the fender to live in so it abit of a mess ATM (will have a build thread once I get abit ahead). Taking the dash off this weekend to to have a look (hopefully there none). Question is what do I have to do for welding in the new pieces. The welding parts easy I'm a boily by trade but I'm not sure if you have to take the engine out or cover it up or something don't have a clue. Any info would be great and if you guys could point me towards the right direction.

You might want to try going to YouTube and searching for Defender bulkhead Rust Repair. There are several good videos there showing how people have welded up their bulkheads. The most difficult part is access, but this depends on where the rust is located and how much rust. Depending on how much you like the vehicle, and how much time you have - a full bulkhead removal and strip is a lot of work - but will mean you can fix all of the rust and paint it at the same time. (Some even go as far as galvanising it..)
Take a really good look at the A pillars while you're there. You might have to take off both front guards to do this properly, but you'll be kicking yourself later if you don't. You should also check the windscreen surround. If the windscreen rubber is shot, you might as well take it out and have a good look before fitting a new one.
Mine has had a patch welded in on the driver's side OK. Then a coat of rust converter, two coats of black anti-rust paint, followed by a coat of fish oil.
Make sure your windscreen isn't leaking or your heater overflow isn't blocked.
