You don't need to buy a new distributor, I just got one off a commodore blue motor and fitted new leads, coil and ignition module on SWMBO's torana. Put it on a couple of years ago when I got sick of adjusting/replacing points every 8 months or so when the rubbing block wore down and closed the points. Timing's been right ever since. As has already been said, check whether the coil needs a resistor or not, maybe the new condensor is cooking if you have 12v on a resistor coil, also check the insulator on the points wire terminal.

    G'day 86Mud,

To protect your investment maybe you should book the car into an Auto-electrician so they can install the new Bosch distributor.

If there is something else going on then the sparkie should be able to sort it out before any further damage is done and more frustration is caused.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

Yeah I'm leaning towards the points.

Ditch the points dizzy and get an electronic, plus the correct coil to feed it. Blue and black sixes had electronic ignition, easy swap.

    Cheers
