			Cooling Air Flow

I have a 2004 TD5 Disco 2 with automatic transmission. For quite a while, I have had the ATF Temperature warning light flickering "on", usually when I slow down or pull up. Occasionally even when I started the engine first thing in the morning, when it was stone cold. I replaced the Temperature sensor on the ATF cooler, with no change. I checked the quantity of ATF and found plenty there. A mechanic told me some time ago that my viscous clutch fan was "lazy" (late starting to turn, and not turning as fast as it should for a particular air temperature). So I then replaced the fan with a brand new one, and the flickering ATF Temp warning light has virtually stopped coming "on". This makes me wonder whether the TD5 has a sensor to detect the volume of air being pulled through the radiator by the fan, as well as the MAF that measures the volume going into the engine. Because the ATF Temp warning light was previously coming "on" when the ATF could not possible have been hot, and now it hardly comes "on" at any time. I'm happy with the outcome, but would like to understand why! Can anyone explain this, please?
