Thread: 300tdi engine vibration?

Hope someone can steer me in the right area to fix.I have a peculiar problem with the fueling on my D1 300tdi.
Symptoms are;
Idle normal, under acceleration normal thru the gears, but when cuising at a steady speed the engine feels like it misfires but not drasticly. It is worse as you ease off the accelerator from cruise. But when in full slowing down mode in gear it is normal(as in foot totally off the pedal).
What is even stranger is that this does not affect my fuel economy.
At first i thought it might be driveline issues, but since i changed the clutch last month that is ruled out. My next thing to try is change the fuel filter, water seperator and clean the bowl near the tank, also check the fuel lines for leaks. I haven't seen any fuel in strange places on the vehicle though.
Also this might be related, when parked on a downhill i notice fuel dripping from the injection pump but could not see exactly where from, might try the talc powder trick to see if i can find the leak.


Turner performance head with new injectors and valves intalled 2 years ago.

Check the lift pump, i had a leak and thought it was from the spill lines but ended up being the lift pump.
