    The Amigos have arrived

    G'day!
The time has finally come and the dreaded amigos have arrived . I have changed the rear calipers, brake lines and pads on the TR and now the dash warning lights are coming on (ABS and TC). The funny thing is, they are coming on intermittently, i.e. they disappear after a while only to reappear again shortly afterwards. ABS is functioning as usual, haven't had an opportunity yet to check TC as well, but I assume it will be working as the ABS does.
I have read through most if not all of the stuff on this topic in "The Good Oil" (ta Pedro!), but cannot quite find a reasonable explanation for my troubles. Unfortunately I don't have access to a test book just now. For those who don't know, the truck is a 2001 Defender 110 (hence no HDC light). Anyone out here who can shed some light into this matter? Thanks!

    My experience with two D2s.

The lights will go away usually with a restart if the system has not recorded over a certain number of faults, eventually they stay on.

You are really stabbing in the dark with out reading the faults. The ecu will tell you exactly where to go. I have sorted the amego issue on my '99 and mates '02 and the fault codes point to the cause.

My 99 was recording the shuttle value faults, the internal plug bypass modification to the ABS modulator fixed it.

Mates '02 was recording left front sensor faults. tried a couple things, ended up removing the plug for the sensor wire, (soldered it) to solve it.

Without access to the faults, you might try checking (remove and clean) all the connectors for the ABS sensors, I also remember people have issues with certain brands of disks & pads. Make sure the sensors are in correctly.

My understanding is that if the lights are on the ABS & TC will still work but it may be in a reduced function.

    Mornin Jojo!
As you know you can physically check each wheel, that may at least locate the fault corner. Then as harlie says try reseating that cable connector and sensor.
How about a summertime Pic to go with all the others Jojo

When I first bought the disco I got no error lights. For about 5 months they came on intermittently, but would reset when Engine shut off and restarted. When they come on right after engine start, it was time to fix. I did option B fix as listed

What exactly are the three Amigos, I am guessing three warning lights on a Disco?
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

So there, plugged the truck into the test book (or vice versa), it showed the LHS rear sensor gave inconsistent signals. I took off the unit, put it back in again and ...voila, the lights are off! Just like magic!
Sure, a test book makes life easier but i honestly wish I could do without one. Modern times, I guess. Thanks for all your replies, folks!
Well, Pedro, I'll find a summertime pic soon! Just let me check my camera.
    Cheers

They do return after option B is done, it depends on what the fault is.
Option B will not cure all faults.
I did Option B then after 12 months Amigos came back, Replaced the Shuttle valve and they disappeared for say another 12 months. Then the front left wheel sensor caused the fault, after replacing it with the new longer sensor wired version it has gone away.
(I also did option B after installing new shuttle valve)
