Did you use rubber or poly/urethane?
Hello All,
After getting sick and tired of trying so hard to keep my rangie pointed straight ahead and feeling like it's falling apart over every bump, I changed the tie rod ends and panhard rod bushes last night.
OMG, what a difference! It has really transformed the car. That and bilstein shock and steering damper has made it a wonder to drive. All I need is new springs now.
The dead give away was the play in the panhard rod. While sitting at lights, I'd move the steering wheel a quarter of a turn each way, and I could see the body of the car moving across from side to side. That was causing the cluck in the front and the tie rod end was causing the wandering.
Now it's time for a shakedown run to newnes this weekend.
Cheers all,
Bryan

I ended up using poly on the panhard rod, because I've got a slight power steering fluid problem... It leaks directly onto the panhard rod and with my last set of rubber bushes, they deteriorated a little to rapidly fo rmy liking.
Hopefully they'll last the distance.
What, no latex option  :?:Originally posted by Pedro_The_Swift

The PS leak is a bit disappointing actually. Put a 2nd hand box in a few weeks ago. I was assured it was a good box. 2 day afterwards a steady stream of psfluid was marking my territory at work, home, and pretty much everywhere else I went
Oh well, I've got the old box out, so I might have a look inside it and renew the seals. Hopefully that'll nail it once and for all. Apparently the seal isn't what goes. The shaft wears out and the fluid leaks through there.
I'll post again when I've got that problem sorted out.
Cheers,
Bryan
