    Defendr 90 Fuel Tank Removal

Does anyone know how to remove a Defender 90 fuel tank?

I have removed the 6 bolts that hold the guard on and the two hoses in the arch

This has allowed h tank to move a little but there is a raised part of the tank that is up against the floor cross member which is preventing the tank sliding off the supports

Please don't tell me I need to lift the body

    It can be done!

I did this not long ago when my fuel pump died.... and then again 10 days later when the HP diesel line came off the pump First time took ages, the second time was all done (removed and re-installed) in a little over an hour.

    Suggestions from my experience

    You will need

    Sockets/wrenches
    2 x pinch bars
a jack of some kind (I used a bottle jack)
    a hammer or mallet
1 foot piece of 2x4 or similar timber
some bricks (if your jack won't reach the tank)
    $100-$200 for the swear jar

    Removal

Loosen everything off (bolts, filler clips, breather clips, etc) and use the pinch bars to push the tank as far to the right hand side as it will go. This tends to make manipulating the supporting plate with the pinch bars much easier.

    Re-install

Once again have the tank as far to the right as you can manage. Use the bottle jack and plank to keep pressure on the supporting plate while you tap/pry/swear it into place.

    Good luck with it!

P.S. Why are you removing your tank?
