central locking keeps unlocking
Hey ppl first of all ill introduce myself as new here names Brian I just purchased a 2004 td5 defender extreme of cause the usual td5 issues oil in harness and such haha easy fixes.
Although ones got me stumped when I got it the last week the previous owner mentioned it has central locking but it doesn't work I though ah yeah easy fix...
what I found was a blown fuse under drivers seat, then passenger front door lock disconnected now I've got it so the locks work when key in door but then they unlock straight away.
Just wondering if anyones had this similar problem and what it might be also another thing that i dont know if related is my interior light stays on as if one of the doors is open checked switches and they all look good....
Any help would be great been doing a lot of reading through the forum but couldnt find muchon this.
Cheers Brian

If the passenger actuator was disconnected, I'd start looking there.
If you lock the drivers door with the key, it will activate the passenger actuator. If the actuator is sticking & wants to return to 'unlock', it could be telling the drivers door (and others) to 'unlock' too.

Yeah thats what I was first thinking but all looks good and when I mean disconeccted just the plastic clip was off so the rod for the actuator had fallen off but still doing its thing just not conected to the lock...
when the locks cycle they look to be working well all move together freely... one thing i did notice just b4 it got to dark to keep playing was the rear tail gate doesnt do anything with the central locking or is this normal and it only operates the 4 doors... was going to pull trim tomorrow to sus it out... to me its seems like an actuator fault but never played with land rovers b4 so dont really know there system.

RAVE wil save!
Patchy, look up the purchase of RAVE on the "Shop" tab above and order the CD for your vehicle. All the electrical diagrams (and everything mechanical) are contained for your edification and amusement.

Cheers Pierre think I will be doing that would have made this a lot easier along with anything in the future haha...
But anyways had a small win got it work sort of
.. with the rear tail gate found the plug behind the speaker had come undone but still would unlock by itself ended up being a dodgy courtesy light switch on drivers door for some reason has a short in it tried cleaning but no go so now just lecy taped till I get a new one....
just one thing that I dont know if its right is that when I jump out to leave the car the locks cycle making them all lock so makes it very easy for me to lock my keys in the car is this just a land rover thing or related to not having a switch on the door...
Cheers Brian
