On my previous '86 Hiline, I removed all the wood, carefully sanded it back (it is a veneer) and then refinished it with satin finish Estapol that I have had in the garage for 20 years. Worked a treat.

Oh, late edit. I can't remember if I stripped the old flaking finish off with paint stripper or not.

The woodwork on the centre panel in mine appears cracked.
Anyone know where to source a replacement and is it possible to find matching one (eg to match the doortrims etc) or were they all the same wood.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

If you want to do a long lasting job, sand back to bare veneer, apply 2 pack polyurethane sealer, then topcoat. Polyurethane is relatively UV resistant, very hard wearing and can be recoated without stripping to bare timber again. Polyurethane is also waterproof, its what they use on yacht timberwork. It's not cheap tho, and needs to be sprayed for best results with an 'enelope coat' to seal out all moisture. Beware any silicone residue, from armourall or similar, 'orange peel' is what happens!. Most paint store sell wax & grease type removers, just to be sure.
Someone tried to refinish the timber work in my RR Classic, with a rosewood stain! Yuk! I'll be stripping mine soon, red and grey don't go!

Another option is having all the pieces covered in vacuum formed vinyl, gloss black or silver is very nice, it's the same as kitchen doors[I sell these!] are covered in, though it doesn't cope with heat very well, and we all know how hot interiors get!

just my 2.2 cents worth, have fun!

they come as a set when new.
if you buy separately you will not get the colours or the grain to match.
