Yep - twin thermos from a EF Falcon and a BMW switch soldered into the rad that turns them on at 91c - works well.

I will be putting this on a 3 way switch - auto / on / off (for water crossings etc)

I think that's a good idea having the three way switch. Bit more control and definately be handy next time you take her for a swim, no more front mounted propellers.

If you have a look behind the plastic radiator grill from the front you should see a couple of small (prob 8") electric fans.

The electric fans switch in under two conditions - one is when the air con is working and the other is when the engine is hot.

In the latter case, the air con doesn't have to be on.

I have a mate with a V8 Torana, which he uses as a burnout car at varioius street machine event. He had endless over heating problems, he had a cowling made up, got the biggest thermo fan he could fit in, and now even during the longest burnout the needle rarely even gets close to the hot mark.

As maggot said the fan is unlikley to be the cause of the problem. A thermo fan would give you a few more horse power, but the air con compressor is definitely the cause. In V8 supercars they dont even use a fan, it uses up horsepower, they arent stopped long enought to need them. Matt
