bigbugga has done it to his fender
Gday to all just joined the site and having a quick browse thru found reference to dust sealing in defenders. Can someone please explain how? Also as to noise generated by stones bouncing off wheel arches in the rear cargo area, whats the cheap fix, other then a drawer system?I purchased a new 110 extreme in 03 and beside these two issues am loving it.

130's rule
I'd say for the stone noise copious amounts of sound deadner would be the fix.

marine carpet in the load area and rubber cargo mat. Cuts the noise down enormously. You don't get as much 'booming' from the cargo area, especially when empty.
As for the dust sealing. Double check all your door blocks and latches. They tend to come lose after any amount of corrugations and the fit become really poor. On one of mine you could see daylight between the seals!

This works well for me:
Defender Rear Wheel Arch Lining

Crump, when I bought mine home I put it in the shed at night, put a light inside and got underneath it with 2 tubes of Sikaflex and filled all the light sources. Nearly 3 years later I still have had no dust problems at all.
Worked for me anyway.
Hope your new acquisition is as good to you as mine has been.

What's the shutz stuff you refer to ? That self adhesive sound deadner stuff ?
Schutz is a spray on sound deadener that you can also paint on with a brush. You can get it from most automotive paint suppliers. It didn't work that well for me and chipped off fairly quickly on gravel roads. I found the rubber lining worked better.

Thanks for that. 8)
