    smokestone vinyl for discovery 2

    Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can buy some smokestone grey vinyl for a series 2 discovery interior? I purchased a 2001 td5 and found that there was a rip in the vinyl on the 2nd row seats.

Land Rover said their option was a new seat base at a cost of around $485. I have seen a few trimmers and they don't know where to locate any.

Even a couple of wreckers who I contacted could not help. I only need a piece about 30cm square but am happy to by a minimum quantity.

    any ideas? :?

Most good trimmers should be able to recover the ripped panel , if they cant get the original vynil then they should be able to get close.

Yep I thought so too. I tried all the samples from 2 trimmers and only one came close. Unfortunately they had none in stock. Some trimmers recolour vinyl but I was trying to avoid this. Another was going to cannibalise some from another part of my vehicle but this proves costly and he could not find anywhere suitable that would not be seen worse than where the piece needs replacing. Actually it is more than a rip, a piece is missing about 5cm by 1.5cm

I hope to be able to get some vinyl from a wrecked disco that may have damaged seats. The back of the front seats looks possible. I guess I need to keep looking.

Another option is to just buy some seat covers but this is more expensive than the new option from Land Rover.

The main problem is that I'm going to the Kimberlies in 2 months time and don't want the rip to get worse. My son wants the disco for his wedding car at the end of the year and guess what, the rip in on the passenger side of the vehicle .... oh well, the bride just needs to sit in the front!

    thanks for looking,

there are people out there that can actually repair that.

theres a mob in sydney called uticolour that i know of.
theres gotta be someone there doing similar work.
otherwise get a whole seat from the wreckers.

gotta be cheaper than land rovers option.

as for seat covers supercrap sells some cheap ones. they got single bucket sheepskin for about $20 each. the back ones shouldnt be too much more than say double this.
