3.9 Economy What do you get?

I have a 96 V8 Disco, all the goodies and love it. Live on the Sunshine Coast so AC runs all the time. Half my day is in and out of construction sites, sand and mud.

I get 400 odd out of a tank and on weekend runs 500 odd.

Would like to improve it though it looks like that is about it.

8)well, i've been watching this thread for a while,
and my 95 v8 disco, usually gets 15-16 mpg
last weekend the run to toowoomba swap and back it got 18, nearly 19 mpg.
i think someone must have fed it while i wasn't looking!

no, not the ecu

the ignition amplifier, my original one seemed to go alright but i had heavy fuel consumption and occassional stalls. had it replaced and wala different vehicle. good economy for what it was and a lot smoother.
Ignition amplifier?? What, where how much? I've dropped to a pretty consistent 20L/100km from where I used to be able to get about 14-15L/100km on the highway.

Hi,
I was getting around 20-24 l/100 or 3-5 km/l on average.
Just took the plunge on LPG and now getting 4.4 km/l or 22l/100 on LPG
A petrol comparison is an estimate, but using 35cents per litre LPG and 95 cents per litre ULP as a figure (Melb metro with safeway/woolies dockets) this is a multiplier of 2.5 so getting 750 km for the price I used to get 350 for on petrol.
Happier.

Of course downside is shorter range (around 25 - 300) and no use for Jerry cans but hey..... :!:

Well actually, with some newer systems you can decant a regular BBQ gas bottle into your cars tank...still not as handy as liquid fuel, but almost there!

Hi All, did my first economy test in city cycle..........18.5 l/100km. Reasonable I thought for a 5 litre EFI V8, 3 speed auto with air con running all the time[I'm asthmatic] I'd expect around 16.5/100km highway
I'll have to see when I get to take my first decent run. Besides, that V8 burble is more than worth an extra $6.00 per 100 km it uses over the old 4 cylinder.......................

Cheers Scott.

Fuel economy, what's that

For my gutless as all hell 3,.5 stocko V8 I get 23L/100 kms on average (dopn't bother working it out) but as a rough guess that,s what I get.

If you want fuel economy, buy a diesel. The V8's will be thirsty no matter what unfortunatley, but enjoy the sound and the LR experience 8)

Trav
