Which rims will fit a classic RR

Which rims will fit a classic RR (1980) from the other Landrovers, ie disco's and defenders.

What year did they change - I am told later RR rims will not fit.

Cheers

All classic rangie and disco 1 rims will fit but not disco 2 or p38 rangies.
the county and defenders only had 16x6 -6.5" rims so are not really worth it. Alloys will fit but you need to change the studs or get nuts to suit alloys onto a non alloy wheel model l/r if that makes sense.

I'm not sure whether 1980 would have come with steelies or alloy wheels originally, but

Check your wheel studs. If they've got a slash across them, you'll be fine with anything. If they haven't, you've got steelie only hubs. Alloys will go on, but they'll either not fit quite right, or jam when you tighten up. With factory alloys anyway.

I think alloys came out with the first hilines in about 82? Before that all steels.

It was late 83 with the first Hi-line models imported into Australia.

Also 3 spoke Vogue alloys won't fit on earlier Rangie unless you grind about 5mm out of the centre of each (not dangerous, but nessacary if you want to fit them).

Diisco rims are the go (S1 steelies) but they are becoming hard to find and expensive but these alloy for more offset and tyre options.

One quick question for you do the vogue alloys have the same offset as the steel series 1 disco rims?

Any info would be appericated

Trav, its better to grind the axle end rather than the wheel. You just have to grind the tops off the axle ends flush with the hub.You have to do this to fit the Disco wheels on also. Now I am not ABSUBLOODYLUTELY sure of that but I am about the Disco ones , and have extrapolated to mags.
