Electrical or what ???
Ok I run short trips fine no issues, but a after a long run down the freeway, say Brisbane to Gold Coast, my D1 3.9l just dies. Wait a few mins then it starts and runs fine again until another ten mins then dies again. As it's dropping dead it sounds like someone is slowly pulling leads till it stops.
My question is after new leads, plugs, coil, dizzy and rotor, is the ignition module in need of replacing or has something else decided to give me a little surprise
YOUR INPUT IS NEEDED.... Only 50ks to get home

Fuel pump, fuel pump connector plug, harness plug over the rear muffler. When the pump gets older it draws more current than the connectors are designed to handle and they get hot. Hot metal connectors expand and disconnect. On cooling they connect again. The nylon around the cable connections goes black if you inspect these connectors carefully. The pump can be replaced with a universal type to suit a VN or similar Commodore and connectors can be soldered and heat shrinked as required. The pump assembly is accessible through the rear load area floor under the carpet. Note that the pressure outlet hose in the pump assembly is hard to get off cleanly and if it is damaged must be replaced with special submersible EFI hose at around $30 per foot.

Thanks, didn't think of that even though the fuel pump had become noisy. New fuel pump and wiring this weekend and a run up to rainbow for a test. That was the next job anyway and was going to fit genuine from British off road but will look into a VN type.
Bee utey rocks.... I love it when a plan comes together
