You could do what I did, remove ABS modulator/booster thingy, throw over left shoulder (or right), install normal old vacuum operated disco booster and master. Fixed

Yes, I'll be doing the very same thing with my '90 which has a failed ABS pump.

    Thanx Matt
Copied and pasted from a UK LR forum, I left in the original posters details at the bottom of the doc to give credit.

These instructions are the same basically as the Haynes manual, possibly where he got it from anyway.

    Hope you find it useful.

You then need to pull the ABS warning Relay. Its a small square plug that has a green base and is the relay closest to the front of the left front seat side panel (remove seat base cover to access)
With a pen and paper handy, find the blue 4 pin connector under the front of the driver's seat and jumper the black to black/pink wire with the key on
Would this be reversed in a RHD car?? because my 'blue' plug is under the passenger side and the ABS relay is under the drivers seat..!

    Thanx Matt.

Ok.. I read the paragraph at the bottom of JC's message which says, that both the ABS warning relay, and the ABS diagnostic plug is under the front passenger seat.. Which is actually correct as per my RAVE manual for plugs and locations. (warning relay is K103 / C350 and the diagnostic plug is X104 / C313) So all clear now.. I'll try it..

I was thinking exactly the same thing... I sneer at ABS, and have no faith in TC ... would prefer Tru-Tracs front and rear. - I've driven one with them and it was awesome..and me a total mug-driver.

Gavin has some info regarding the WABCO Abomination which he assures will terrify me... so I'm looking for Plan-B for if/when the world ends.

Which Disco? which Master cylinder? and what do I do with the double piston calipers, or does the Disco system use the same number of brake hoses ??? - may as well start pricing the stuff now...

Yep, it works a treat... Mine imagines a big gap on RH front sensor.

But it won't re-set till I somehow shorten the gap... or make it think I have.
Till then, a piece of insulation tape over the ABS light stops the annoyance.

I just bough a disco 1 booster, a disco 1 non ABS master, but I did convert mine to defender brakes all round, so I run a 4 port master, 2 do the fronts, 1 does the rear, other blanked off. Brakes work really well, locks up 33's no worries. And I run an Ashcroft atb in the front, Detroit (sals) in the rear

Hey. As posted previously, I got a 2-12 code indicating the front right sensor, which I've since read is very common for some reason. I took it down to Roverland in Boronia and got Glenn and Marco to have a look. Sure, it was a faulty front right sensor. They swapped out the ABS ECU to check but still getting the same fault, so my ECU was deemed ok. Then changed out the sensor with a spare rear sensor that they had, works great with no re occurances of the braking issues I had earlier. didn't even charge me yet till they know its fixed!! good blokes down there at Roverland! Plug Plug!
