Range Rover body onto a Disco Chassis?

G'day Guys,

As part of my 300 TDI conversion I'm looking at the possibility of rather than an engine swap but a body swap - don't worry about the legalities yet.

I have the opportunity to buy a panel damaged Disco BUT will a 1987 RR body just mount up onto a 1997 Disco Chassis?

Ring rangie automotive in vic.
they have a comp rangie that is the same as
what you want to do.

Will go straight on, after all the Disco is a range rover with just a differant body on it

Bloke here has one that is half Range Rover half Disco
Range Rover Bonnett and front, along with Interior, with disco doors and roof and back door.
Looked kind of good

Cousin John and I are contemplating a project with the bits left over from his Series three. All we need by way of the big bits is a RR chassis. Keep us in mind. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img]

I was under the opinion a Disco is a "classic" Rangie with a different skin.
Not about to bet my left nurrie on it but suspect Im in the ball park.

you might find the out riggers might be a bit different.

if its close by or theres one in a caryard close by, why not park the two side by side and crawl underneath and compare.

I've always wondered about that. Would the 2 door Rangie bodys be able to go on the Disco Chassis?

G'day Guys,

I have to agree with Reads90 - the chassis is the same, and have often wondered about doing a 1/2 RR 1/2 Disco project.

HOWEVER, the RTA in NSW will not let me do the swap - as the body has one compliance and the chassis has another. The engineer I am using even says that RTA may not even allow it on the road!!!.

SO the project is to take the body off my RR - renovated my RR chassis and install all the mechanicals from the Disco - leaving just the Disco body and chassis.

Just need the time to do it now!!!

I will have a 1997 Disco TDI Chassis available, plus many other RR / Disco parts.
