Range Rover 2 bigger tyre sizes

Hello all, just had a querry as to what the maximum tyre size (height and or width) people had put on the RR2 with the 16 inch wheels. Are the standard wheels 16X7 or am I wrong. As the car lowers right down to the bump stops I guess it may be difficult to put larger tyres on.

Does anyone know if people have raised the body on these at all?

My reason for asking is that I do a lot of sand and desert driving and would like to firstly get opinions on the ability of the RR2 in these conditions and would like to know what modifications if any people have done to them. ie. long range fuel tanks bull bars, winches, tyre mods, lifting of the body/suspension etc.

    any help apreciated,

    Charlie

I bought a set of 245.75x16 BFG Mud terrains from a guy who had them on a P38 and reckoned they didn't rub.
He only did 70Km on them but they had no rub marks. He had them on early 16x7 rims, but later rims are 16x8.

Thanks Philip, approximately what time did the standard wheels become 16 x 8?

Darned if I know. Now I think about it, when I was trying to identify thewheels, I found they were early 4 litre ones. I think 4.6 HSE always had 16x8.
Maybe Rangerovers.net will have the info. Have a look.

If you want to run bigger tyres but are worried about them rubbing just find a good Land Rover Mechanic (like Rick's 4x4 on the Gold Coast) and get them to reprogram the computer so the Rangie will sit higher to accommodate the height difference of the tyre.
