Mine was similar - over read with 31" tyres. After changing to 255/85's it reads 110kph, actual 111kph (by gps), near enough for me!

Hi all,
Defender Speedo is yours Acccurate?
Mine is really bouncy and at 100kmh it reads close to 120kmh
Tyres are still 7.50x16 so thats ok.
if its been out a while then my Defender might have not done 200k but 160-170k.....
Now there is a good reson to have it fixed, stop clocking up 20% more than it should be.
Regards
Steve

It might just the speedo that's inaccurate. Have you checked the distance recorded by the odometer vs that recorded by a GPS?
My County reads 5km/h high at 100km/h. I haven't checked the odometer.

My old 300tdi would read 107 on the speedo, however read 100 on the GPS. Seemed to be a common fault with all Defenders.
I'll have to wait until i get it on the road properly and do a run down the Fwy..
I'll measure the tyres to make sure they are 32"

When doing a long distance run I checked the odometer by GPS and by the mile posts and both the odometer and speedo are over reading by 5-7 percent.
This annoys me actually - for starters it mean I am in denial when I say I sometimes get better than 10litres per 100km.
I also believe that most cars really start to drink above 100km so can I sit on 107 and still be going at an economical rate?
Can it be adjusted easily, other than getting tyres with a lesser diameter?
yer mine is the same, thats why the gps isn't a put in when I need it item like it was suppose to be.
I'll check mine and then see what size tyres i accually have, then decide on tyres or speedo recallibration.
