Hi Landylad
Welcome Aboard
Easiest suspensoin lift is resetting your springs or fitting Parabolic springs. The Parabolics have 3 leaves,on a greater curve than standard, they give a SOFT ride but aren't cheap. With the parabolics and reset for height standard springs you need longer travel shockies which can be a bit of a headache.
Another suspension lift is going the Army setup, these have longer shackles, and an extended "fixed end" spring mounts.
I have done a body lift on my "long term project" The Toy,I lifted the body 4 inches, via plates and a sub chassis at the rear.Due to a misunderstanding with the Transport people over here in WA ,not enough information offered on THEIR behalf when I first discused the project with them I will be cutting 2 inches out of the body lift.A BIG ****OFF as the chassis has been stripped to bare metal and primed/refinished in bright yellow.Have a look at some of my pics in the gallery,LandyAndys Landys.

How high to you want to lift your truck?

What do you want to achieve?

Run military length shackles front and rear and scallop the crossmember under the front shaft as it will hit.

You can run 36inch tyres with only shackles and guard chop with some bump stop modifacation, so why the need to lift?

Mine's gone up about 2 inches with the 109 springs I shoved under it about a month back from the standard springs by measurement.

Down to 8 leaflets (extra H/D) on the back and 11 leaflets (diesel) on the front and because they were designed for heavier and mines lighter, it rides higher.

The body rolls a bit on the swerves even with the big monroe shockies but pretty happy with what I've done. Wouldn't go higher... too much mucking around, more body roll and cost (fines, reengineering of the vehicle, parts, the list goes on).

If your springs are still okay probably extend the shackles like Andrew suggests which it'd be the cheapest option as you can make them. Just make sure your shockies are long enough otherwise, you'll do the mods, the shockies will be maxing out on extension and act like slidehammers on the chassis. Not good.

The shocks wont be long enough either way. Even military are not long enough. By extending front / rear towers your front driveshaft will start smacking the crossmember under neath it so fixing that issue is very important.

I find that I still bottom out on some of the rougher stuff I drive around here. Killed 2 standard tanks so far, put a Datsun 200b tank in the back mounted in a cradle and covered in checkerplate for protection. Fitted perfectly and great when in ute form, but have to go back to wagon to ease the ' its just a toy! ' arguments and be able to carry the family around! So would like to lift it a bit more plus it looks good!!!! what about springs from another vehicle? Already have army shackles and shocks in the rear! TY

Hi Dave
You are spot on with what you said about the front cross member.I fixed the situation by getting a piece of 6 inch pipe cutting it in half then marking the shape on the cross member and cutting it out,the section of pipe was then welded in.
