    200 Tdi Lift Pump Query

I had to replace a leaking lift pump on a 200 Tdi Defender today

The new pump came supplied with about a 5mm spacer. In the box were a set of conversion instructions which detailed fitting the spacer. Side by side the two pumps looked near identical, except the hand priming levers were on opposite sides and a slightly different angle on the lever that works on the cam shaft.

I couldn't really see a need for the spacer

    Can anyone tell me more?

It was a Bearmach branded lift pump

If it was me I would be going with the spacer. If it is needed and you don't use it it could cause damage. On the other hand if you use it and it is not needed, worst case is it might not work properly.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

The pump kit is for various engines. Some need the spacer. The Defender 200TDI does not. Always compare with what comes out.
