Leaking fuel.

Just thought I would ask after this came up in the "3.9 Fuel Economy" thread.

If I fill BUB91 past the first pump cut off click, it leaks fuel from under the car,,
the more clicks, the more fuel.

Is this an overflo thing
or,
split fuel lines:?: .

never leaks any other time,
( no- not even oil!!)

Is this a recent phenomenon?

It could be a seasonal thang: warm weather and the fuel expands and Clancy is tested

I think the 10 min fix is probably after the tank is out maybe!

hmm OK,,

I suppose the real worry is ingress of crap into the tank,

I could live with it at the moment.

dont fill it till it leaks.
stop at the first click of the fuel nozzle.

Is it a defender?
The defenders we have at work all do the exact same thing, it's an overflow thing. The tank breather is vented via a pipe that runs higher than the tank then does a U-turn down to a sock filter on the end.
That only applies to diesels though.

Hope this helps

my disco's been doin that for years. every time im sittin around
doin nothing i dont seem to think of fixing it??
might start with pulling the tank line off the charcoal canister
to see if its blocked??

or i could just pull the tank out :?

You don't say which model but there is a recall on 93 onward Discos in the USA. There are four breathers on the plastic tank one in each corner. The recall is for cracking in the vicinity of the breathers. Or one of your breathers may have come off, OR the gasket on the screwtop of you petrol pump may be leaking . OR the epoxy on the wires into your fuel pump may have disintegrated.
My 92 Rangie (with 82 L plastic tank) also drops a little when chockers, but I cannot be stuffed to look, especially as I have a 138 l tank on order.
Regards Philip A
