Thread: Diary of TDI Conversion - Day 1 RR body is off

G'day Ron,

The ZF out of the RR is for sale, but without transfer - as I want to rebuild the transfer and keep as a spare.

The ZF is smooth as, could do with a new filter and oil change as I have had it for over one year and I haven't done it yet.

The ZF with all linkages / shifter probably looking for about $500 - what do you think?

I can take some pix - now its been cleaned and degrease!!!

we were already under our tent city this arvo - as we removed all the connections and transfer box today.

The plan was to have the engine out today, but this will have to be done in the morning - otherwise we will have to revert to plan B 8O

I once towed a Falcon 4WD that way behind my Land Cruiser (when I had one) and it was diabolical over about 40mph. It would snake around but i couldn't stop to change it around. I was on the F3 and the Falcon didn't run.

G'day Ron,

There were no issues with the towing - only travelled 2kms anyway!!!

The issue we had were the chassis was on the first floor of the workshop and the entrance is on the ground floor then up a steep ramp.

Getting there was not an issue - RR just drove in, but now with no brakes we had to lower the chassis down the ramp with chains and a block and tackle.

We did try reversing the tow car and trailer up the ramp - but the tow car was starting to lift its rear wheels once the weight of the RR hit the back of the trailer, so was not recommended and we went the more correct method (work cover issues)!!!!

Have spoken with Minister for Finance. Answer is negatory, good buddy, as I haven't yet decided which I'm keeping - the P38A or the County.
