Hello,
I maybe would think it is the immobilizer as mine does the same from time to time unlock everything works but no go, it does crank, most lights come on so I lock and wait a minute and then unlock again no troubles starts up.

The Disco Iv been bolting the TD5 together on has me bet ATM.
so I need some help.
so far I cant get to it with a nanocom ass there appears to be no power on the OBd2 port. I've got power on all the fuses in the engine bay fuse box. The fuel pump fires up and the engine cranks over. So i dont htink its the imobiliser,
IVe got power to F24 in the under dash fuse panel but NOT on F14.
I also have ht MS lights flashing on the dash.
The EKA either doesnt work or has the wrong ccode in the book but the process of starting it and the single beep for a wrong code does its thing as well.
Im having hassles with my copy of rave on the tablets and sub latops IVe got so Im working a little in the blind here.
anyone got anything obvious or had this fault befoer?
Dave

I think the indicators will flash if the inertia switch needs resetting Muppet.

Dave. The missing power at the OBD, is this just for powering diagnostic? If it is, could you not just splice into the wire at the back of the plug and feed it to the battery?
Dave.
I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

The M & S lights flashing is low battery voltage.
These things will cut power to the ECU below a pre-set that still allows cranking, go figure.
I'd give the battery a charge or get a big canker with jumper leads and give it a go.
If it's had head work recheck the cam timing and it'll possibly need the full fuel bleed sequence.
Both of these I've found when looking at motors after head gasket changes with no start issues for forum members.
Hi Dave, as said before try charging the battery. If you think it's the immobiliser, in Nanocom there is a LEARN SECURITY function try that.
Did you remove the injectors from the other engine, if so they might need coding?
cheers,
Mario
If it is immobilizer doesn't the engine not crank?
Dave.

Hi, what do you meant here's no power on the obd port please? do you mean you plug in the tesster and it's completely dead like unplugged or do you get a data link errpor message... that's important
about F14, dont bother with it, it's only for V8s aand it's dead cos the igntion relay is usually missing
the diagnostic port gets feed from F20 ... the central door locking is working?, if not check fusible link FL3 in engine bay(as you said you've checked all fuses didnt mention about FLs) if it's good swap relay R9(main) with R8(heated screen) for test
Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
Only reason I ask is I know a bloke who pulled his V8 apart to put it out to 4.6 and afterwards it wouldn't catch and it turned out to be the inertia switch, although it may have been pinched wiring or something rather than needing resetting.
The suggestion of a battery is a good one.
