Cousin John was getting 17l/100 at the best. Not as good as his Series III V8. Usually 20 around town and upwards off road.
I will ask him about his Simpson Desert Trip averages.
Ron might have a "bead on this" by now.

thanks Mahn,
little bro is trying to work out witch is fesable,
1 keeping and upgrading the gearing in his S2A 109,
with a 202 holden so the car moves faster than the fuel gage
drops. or
2 buying this county and registering it?
i think he would be better off in the county, for the sum of
$1500 all the running gear has just been replaced.
old farmer's car, wreckers offered him $500 for it. hes
spent $4000 on it!
I use to get anything from 16l/100 up to about 25l/100 when I was running the same carby and 3.5 with 1.333 high range gearing.
I now get 14/100 to about the same 25l/100 with 3.9, twin strombergs and 0.996 high range gearing.
It goes faster now though and will sit on 120kmh easily.
no offence guys...but i dont think that V8 and fuel economy should be used in the same sentence...
My old V8 110 used to get around 19 mpg cruising if you keep the speed down to about 95kph, but other than cruising on long runs, it was bloddy average, between 10-15mpg. If its an every day commuter, I`d go diesel, but for a toy on the weekends and the odd trip the V8 is perfect.
You just dont get the same satisfaction from an oil burner as you do with a V8.
If you'd prefer we could call it "fuel consumption".Originally posted by DEFENDERZOOK

Damn you Sir, kindly leave the stage, you have stolen my line. I use this all the time when potential buyers of Rangies phone me to get advice, and they usually ask"what fuel economy can I expect"
Alan Howard
I am glad my fuel guage no longer works.
As I no longer have to watch it hit the speed of sound on its way to empty.
