Are you going to strenghten the outriggers to prepare for the body lift while it's like that?
G'day Guys,
Well today was another productive day, we preped the RR chassis and rustproofed.
The original chassis before the clean up:
and after most of the day cleaning and rust proofing - surprising how good an 18 year old chassis was:
As you can see some of the rust proofer was still wet - it starts out like a milky chocolate liquid and turns blue after a while on the metal. Once dried it turns black and like a shiney surface, ready for the Holden Chassis black.
THX to Damo and his misses for the help in hand clean the chassis - good mates, but apparently I'm a bad influence with all my projects!!!

On a serious note, it looks good so far, what is the time frame you hope to have it finished in? Matt

Looking good, but why scrap a RR and a Disco, when you could have saved yourself the RR and just used the Disco.
G'day Col,
The RR is not being scrapped, anything but!!!
I am using a panel damaged D1 300 TDI / Auto I bought to upgrade the RR. The Disco body was rooted, as it had rolled onto the drivers side, and the shell is twisted, but the chassis was not.
My original plan was to do a body swap - put the RR body onto the Disco chassis, but this was too easy and RTA would not commit to me being able to register it!!! Hence the reason why to swap all the Disco mechanicals onto the RR.
I used to have a late model D1 but was too nice to damage off road, so I bought the RR but then found this was not reliable enough for trips - thus this project combines the reliability of the 98 Disco but the bashability of the 1987 RR!!!
Hope this clarifies,
