    Painting Alloy Wheels.

I saw a Disco 4 with the Black wheels the other day and I am now very keen to paint the wheels on my Disco 3. What is the best way? Should I get them powder coated or is there a good gloss enamel and primer that anyone recommends? I intend to clean them with steel wool and use thinners to clean thoroughly before priming and painting. Any tips greatly appreciated.

    painting rims

Hi I have recently painted my stuff 18" rims, and just used a couple of spray cans from Burnings. Just make sure that you scrub up and clean them first. Two thin even coats of both. Undercoat and topcoat. Then leave out in the sun for a day or two to bake and fully dry before fitting tyres. Mine didn't even chip from the tyre fitting machine. Total cost about $60.00. @$15.00 per can. Did all five with some left over for touchups.

I ended up doing the same on my D3. I think they look great. i didn't remove the tyres. I will get them powder coated when the tyres need replacing.
