    Mongrel Tyres

Anyone used these tyres?? They're a recap. Quite cheap but can anyone tell me if they're any good??

    Thinking of getting some.

    Approx 250 for a 33.

That is the largest they are making at the moment.

If it is only for an offroad tyre, then have a look at swampers. There is a tyre joint called 'exclusive tyres' that sell the tyres cheap, then send you onto a tyre place for fitting and balancing.

Last year Q78's (36 x 11 x 16) where only about 290 a tyre. So something like a 34 x 9.5 x 16 swamper would be ideal for a defender and still only abit dearer per tyre but no reliability issues.

    they told me $175 for a 32 10.5 r15?????
they are a re mould, what they call a mono form, not a re cap!

they do more sizes than they list on the web.
    225/70 16 285/75 16 also.

are there any other re cappers of this type of tyre?
all i want are 235/245 70/75 r16's but i dont want to spend a million.

ok well for approximately $250 you guys should look into the Silverstone MT117 Sports.

There are also directional and are not a remold, they're radials and they have been getting good reports both on and offroad

they are a mongrel to drive on the road with

swamper's are a cross ply tyre............you get a heap of under steer inti and around corners at speed

I use a set of swampers for the mud runs in winter, I agree they are not the best on the road so I don't travel fast and they sound like a boeing 747 coming in to land, but in the mud......I love them they are brilliant.

Only use them a few times a year and have had them now for around 7 years and still about 75% tread.

They only understeer if your going too fast, even then its still manageable.

Otherwise they are like driving on any other serious off road tyre. They are not built for road, as are simex and mongrel and claw.

They are a great alternative that is cheaper than simex but far better built than a mongrel.

Ohh, the understeer is only normally on bitumen. On gravel they can allitle but its not a problem. I cain my q78s and it will still handle at speed, so much so that it will go faster than me.
