12 o'clock doesn't have to be full fueling. On mine, I can see that it has been adjusted before. I didn't take apart actual diapraghm from the excentric cone shaft, but on mine the dot is in about 1/2 of full fueling position. Mine was 3 o'clock, and I turned it to 12 which gave me 3/4 of full fueling. I didn't study it much as I had to reassemble in a hurry, but will have a closer look next time it's off.
EGT probe is mounted in EGR blanking plate and it sticks about 7cm inside the housing.
As I said, I didn't try any long inclines under full load yet. Max I was able to get out of it on short bursts of acceleration was 500. It may be slower response probe.
How's your smoke? Is it visible with those settings?
