    r380 - upgraded 5th gear support bearing

    hey all,
I'm in the fortunate position, to be able to order a new rebuilt gear box.

Just wondering if anybody has used an upgraded 5th gear support bearing ?

Ashcroft offer the upgraded bearing for 160 pound, which isn't cheap. Just trying to understand if it's needed.

my d1 is a daily driver, but I do to a camper trailer.

It is obviously stronger than standard so can't be a bad thing?. I'd go for it.

After having one fail I ordered mine with the heavy duty bearing upgrade. Time will tell whether it was worth it, but i believe it would have to be.
