I have asked this question on our Disco2 forum so hopefully will have an answer for you soon.
Have you tried spraying WD40 into the lock?
I have just returned from a dusty trip north west of Charter Towers. My rear door will not open. It locks and unlocks, but will not open.
I gather the door latch is full of dust.
I have tried blowingh commpressed air into the mechanism - no go.
I removed the interior panel to access the mechanism thinks an operating rod may have falled off - no go.
I have manipulated the rods and levers internally - no go
Does anyone know how to open the door when it is jammed as such.

I have drowned it with WD40. It did not seem to be able to get into the lock mechanism.
I shopped around to find a trim removal lever. Got inside, removed the trim, disconnected the links rods and operated the levers continually while banging on the door from the inside. Very scientific.
It finally gave way.
I removed the lock mechanism from the door and the latch seems to be glued up with a mixture of white grease and bull dust.
I flushed it out and scraped and wiped it clean for about an hour.
It eventually started to operate freely.
It is now reinstalled and working.
The moral to the story is "Do not lubricate the lock mechanism with anything other than a silicone spray"
Grease and red dust glue up the lock.
The lock mechanism is rubber coated to ensure trouble free operation, so it does not need and grease on the latch..
Thanks for that Guru,
Mine has been greased and I have noticed it is a little stiff...
I better get the cleanup job done before I have to follow your scientific system to get it open 8O

Hi Guys
Graphite powder is the best lubricant for key/lock/hinge mechanisms. Its a dry powder and doesnt create a magnet for dust.Blower bottle packs are available from your local hardware shop for between $5 and $10.

I find that $2 pressure pack of "water dispersant" from super¢heap good for this sort of thing, more so than WD40.Originally posted by walker

The $2 stuff seems to remove the grease and frees parts up much quicker. No good for anything else I've found as it evaporates off so it's probably kerosene or some derivative. Which is where your WD40 comes to the front, inox in my case.
This is from memory and if I can I will find the tech link for the detailed info.
I think you need to remove the LR oval badge that sits on the rear handle and this will let you get into the lock mech.
I will find the link ASAP.
