TD5 welch / core plug size?

Hi all, I am replacing the welch plugs in the RHS of the td5, the info I found on the web indicated that a 28mm plug was what I needed, so I got some at the local auto parts store. Compared to the ones which came out, they seem pretty good to me, However, when I did a trial fit to make sure that I had a good size socket to tap the new plug home, the new plug slid straight in just with finger pressure. This doesn't seem to be right. I would have thought that it should be a nice tight interference fit.

Does this sound like ever so slightly out of spec manufacturing of the new plugs? Or is it a non metric size? Does anyone know an exact spec for the plugs? Do I have to get real Landrover ones?

    Thanks

update, went with the genuine part

It is slightly larger than 28mm. So if you have time, order in the proper part.
Even with the inlet manifold off, it is still difficult to get room to move a hammer to tap them home nicely. Job done though here's hoping that I don't have to go there again any time soon.
