    Is it The fuel Pump?

    G,day guys
Just though I would ask, as some one out there might of had the same problem.
I own an 88 rangie( 3.5 v8), the problem is that when driving up a long incline, or accelerating rapidly through 1st, 2nd,3rd gears, once you reach the desired speed or are trying to maintain it, the car feels as if it is stavving of fuel. The fuel filter has just been replaced, so that is not an issue, and it has just been serviced. Apart from this problem it running like a dream. Any infomation is greatly appericiated

    Cheers Chriso

    could be lots of things??
get your fuel pressure checked, even if the filter is new, dosent
stop crap getting into the pressure regulator, thus lowering
    the pressure at the injectors.
this would give you your problem. idle well but no power.
or plugs/leads can brake down, at certian rpm ranges.
airflow meter, coolant temp sender, fuel temp sender, ect ect.
if any of these are faulty any sort of drama can unfold.
try narrowing it down a bit more, someone on here will know
    what it is.

    cheers Phil.

Has the coil been checked ?

A weak coil can do that because of overheating. Make sure the candles have a strong blue spark then check with a multimeter the resistance on the coil primary circuit to specifications.

...Also consider a new set of HT leads if they haven't been changed in a while. For some reason, the Rover V8 is quite fussy about the age & quality of them... :?

I had a much exagerated problem over easter.

The car would be fine on a hill ( even oh so slight) untill it used all the fuel in the carbies, then it would drop to 2 or 4 cyclinders and starve / die.

We checked float levels in the carbies, filters blew out the fuel lines with compressed air and couldnt work it out.

Drained and cleaned fuel tank approx 15 times, only to find some silicon gasket in the bottom of the tank blocking the pickup.

Take the sender off and clean the lines and tank.

Easy job and eliminates big problems.

thank everone for you responses, My rangie is EFI not carby. So I know that it is not a problem with the diaphrams. All of the HT leads have been changes approx 1month ago. The coil I need to check, and may be the dizzy cap, but it really feels like fuel stavation, not a miss fire, I will comtinue the search for the answer

my 97 v8 had what i would have sworn blind was fuel starvation and it ended up being the ignition amplifier module.
put new ignition module in and magnacore 8mm leads and it went like a train from then on.

Fuel starvation would show up best under full load with full throttle. If you're not getting enough juice it'll really die then. Might want to check vacuum advance line as well to make sure it is sealing properly.
