Is there any need to use high tensile bolts for a body lift?

there are different laws in every state to body lifts.
check that out first, it might change your mind???
also check out what your insurer will cover. i went through this
and found only one that would insure a 3'' body lift!
cheers phil
I have done (twice) a 25mm body lift and from what I have understood is that a 245mm is okay and doesn't need to be engenered in QLD (may have been changed recently, haven't checked). 50mm will need engeneering in all states I would state.
Ally blocks are the best way to go and easy enough to DIY plus cheaper. LRA (Les Richmond Auto.) have a very comprehemsive kit although a bit more expensive, but you get the lot IICR.

WOW, now that's a big lift!! 8O 8O
But I know what you mean. Here in Victoria we can get away with anything . Will just go with a 50mm lift using aluminium rod. I looked at the Rangie spares kit but I can think of better things to do with my $650.
Just buy them. Its probably one of the cheapest mods you can do. At least if there high tensile they have to be rated, unlike normal bolts which could well be made of plasticine.
Dave.
Bolts:
10mm grade 8.8
3/8 grade 5 unf
use nylocs on them

Thanks Michael,
Who has droped their radiator & who has moved it up with the body. My radiator is not atached to the chasis at all but if I lift it up I will have ot modify the bottom of the cowl and it is also likely the fan will miss part of the radiator. I was thinking of droping it down onto the chasis.
Also....For those with early model Rangie's. Did you have to modify the transfer case lever at all? I'm sure the gear stick will be OK but I was not sure of the small lever. Also I have vacuum operated CDL so I assume the hose will be long enought to accept a 2" lift without changing?
i just modified the bottom section of my cowl as the brackets are a pain the A$$ to modify as they form part of the battery trays.. so would need to cut and shut those as well as fab new brackets up for radiator mounts...
I took the easy route  .. my fan does not "miss" any part of the radiator, but does not sit central to it either
