    will a converted V8 auto transmission fit a TD5?

    Hi all,
There is a listing on ebay for a transmission from a v8 petrol discovery that has had a bellhousing and torque converter also front imput shaft changed to a turbo diesel.

The guy selling it doesn't know if it will now fit a 2001 TD5 series II auto or not so I'm asking here If its the same year it might, right?

    cheers,
    Pete'

Don't know if D2's are the same in this respect to Di's - but for D1's the auto output shaft and the adapter case between the auto and the transfer case are different between the V8 and the diesel.
In the D1's the input shaft is the same but you need to swap bellhousings and rebuild the V8 box with a diesel output shaft, then there are the issues of different valving controlling the box - but maybe with the D2's electronics this isn't an issue.
Suggest you try contacting Ashcroft's they're usually pretty good with advice

    Cheers

I have never rebuilt one but if my box went i would do it, the kits are available from ashcrofts along with other parts that may be required.
Methodical and clean work and i think it cant be too hard, 4K is about average price and i think its about 3K changeover if you removed/re fitted yourself.
