Hi DEFENDERZOOK, mate never, NEVER EVER use a test light on a modern vehicle.

Test lights commonly trigger the air bags and in the USA there have been a number of deaths caused by accidental triggering of the air bags when some has been looking for a wire in and around the dash.

They have have been looking for a live wire using a test light and tested one of the sense wires for the air bag. This has trigged the air bag, hitting the person in the head and breaking their neck.

When working on a vehicle fitted with air bags, ONLY use a digital multi meter.

Your right about starting at the horn. Also check to see if there is two fuses for the horn circuit. On some vehicles there is a fuse covering the horn switch and relay and a second fuse for the power going to the horn.

    Cheers

    i hear you drivesafe......
i understand where you're coming from.

im aware of the dangers involved with airbags and ecu's etc. as i have a little knowledge around a vehicle. thats why i asked him to get back to us with the result of the first test.

but to just check for a feed to the horn all is safe.

to check fuses or switches etc i will only use a digital multimeter or a low voltage LED testlight(which im even sceptical about sometimes)

just need to know if the problem was in the wiring or the actual horn itself.

i definately will not send him under the dash with a testlight.....

i was gonna send him to super crap or dicksmith to invest in a $10 set of digital multimeters, if he didnt have any, as it is a tool which needs to be in everyones toolbox these days.

now if we could only wake him up......its almost lunch time.

Hi again DEFENDERZOOK, you can not use a test light any where on a vehicle that has air bags. There are senses all over the place, especially under the bonnet.

Tripping the air bags from under the bonnet might be OK for Vlad, while he’s looking for the horn wire but Mrs Vlad is behind the steering wheel and at best she could get a broken wrist and/or ribs and at worst, well you already know that.

Be safe and just don’t use a test light at any time.
    Cheers

Once you find where the problem is, rip those useless horns out and fit a couple of old ford or holden ones - my wife almost fell over laughing when she heard the rangies horn!

I haven't heard the Rangie horn yet, so haven't fallen down laughing.
Would you just fit a few ford/holden ones in series ? (Um as opposed to in A series ) ?

As to sleeping - yeah. I went to work at 2.30 yesterday arvo, and had to end up writing some very long statements for the Feds so I didn't leave work until 3.45.... this morning Yrp, I've been sleeping alright....

and since Mrs Vlad often has the Rangie with her its hard to find time to check these things, but I shall, I shall.....
