r380 -penrite progear 75w85
has anybody had any problems running progear 75w85
also why isn't anyone using the penrite 70w-75 ?
reason being, just finished swapping gearboxes, and seeking a fresh start.
Also repco have just quoted me $36 a litre for castrol syntrans !
One thing i've noticed reading all the other 500 posts about oil for the r380, is not everyone specify's what part of the country they're in, in relation to what they use. Temperature does vary as we all know from hobart to cape york (especially in winter). Unlike in the UK. i'm on the Gold Coast, so winter isn't really an issue.

Rick 130 is probably the most knowledgable in that area
Im using Penrite 70w75 works just fine for me, time will tell if it is any good. But then again my disco has been laid up for a while with engine troubles.

I was using Nulon synthetic in my Defender R380 suffix L. Notchy gearchanges. Switched to Penrite synthetic 75/85 and what a positive difference that made! It has been about 5000km+ now (or until Jan 2015 as the vehicle is about to get a new Turner head after the thermostat stuck on the way to Brisbane).
Yes Syntrans is expensive and I was quoted the same price from Repco for one litre. I ended up paying about the same price for the Penrite product (2 1/2 litres for $36) from Repco here in Batemans Bay NSW.
