    Plug lead coil ends

Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between the spark plug lead ends (coil) on a 4L and 4.6L?
Did they change on the thor engines in the RR's?

After having actually seen one close up, my old set had black "pin surrounds" on the coil ends,, and felt like plastic.? Good NGK leads.

Having put a set of NGK leads on a customer's VY Commodore last year it did nothing but backfire under load at low RPM, so in desperation I ripped them off recently and replaced them with Top Gun leads as they were in stock. Chalk and cheese. The Top Gun leads had three times the internal resistance of the NGK leads and run waaay smoother. I would have used Bosch as I've had nothing but good results with them.

The analogy with the THOR engine is that the VY runs waste spark coils too. Try some genuine or Magnecor leads, NGK aren't "good" enough.

BTW I don't think the type of insulator around the pins will make much difference, they're just spacers to centralise the connectors.

The Disco 2 and RR with Thor have the leads like in your pic with the ceramic ends at the coil.

the Earlier Range rovers P38s with the Gems had different leads and the lead end to coil had the brass clips
