What would happen if the fuse blew? I presume it would rely on battery only and the systems would go into progressive failure as the battery got lower?

If the fuse blows then I would remove fuses for all non-essential components (eg suspension, a/c, radio) to prolong the battery's life and switch in my aux battery. At least a flat battery can be swapped back and forth with one from another vehicle to get out of trouble.

Can you fix the LR alternators using Toyota parts?,it would be a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a new one,do any of you have an alternator that can be used to find out?. Pat

At least 1 person on Disco3.co.uk (Flack) has acquired and replaced a diode pack as he produced a tutorial on how to do it. However if the alternator's wiring has been burnt then its futile.

Edit: If repairing a 150A alternator, see if the diode pack from a 180A alternator can be found because they use 60A diodes instead of 50A diodes.
