    Whose defender is going hardtop?

Driving by a reputable panelbeaters at Bankstown airport, I saw this defender undergoing the knife.

Its a top conversion- the join between the end of the cabin and the standard hartop is very professional. But looks like the chassis could use another 15cm.

The owner of the shop is experienced - in his backyard is a stretched 2 door rangie ute he did some years ago.

Bankstown seems to be home to a number of conversions: In a caryard nearby is a defender campervan (with a really bad departure angle) and there is floating around a newish defender extreme 4 door (?) turned into a ute ( No, it's not one of the bicentennial jobs either)

It looks like the rear body has been extended about 450 beyond the end of the standard. Would that be right?

Chassis lengthening is an issue in NSW so I suppose this is the easy solution. I wonder about the departure angle implications.

    Good for touring though.

    That's ironic - I want a Defender soft-top.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".
