Hi,
I am working on a 300tdi Disco, and these plastic things "appeared". I have no idea where they were, or if they are even part of this engine!
Anyone have any ideas what they are, if they should be here, and if so, where?
Hopefully the photo attached successfully!!

They look like line/fitting bungs or injector nozZle/top covers to me.
They might also be the appropriate size to be push in versions of the wading plugs.
I bet you found them in either the area between the firewall and the wheel arches, in the "tray" under the windshield or I'm the space on the left side where the second battery usually winds up fitted.(that's where I usually put that kind of stuff when I'm working on discos. But I've found those sorts of things ands more under the rocker cover, inside the sump and inside the side cavities where te lift pump and vac pump bolt in.)

I strongly suspect that one was in the tstat outlet pipe work, and have not a clue where the other was..... The concrete was cleaned before starting (because I hate getting dirty and losing stuff!!), and it was on the ground when I finished.
They are like Spumante plastic corks, but open like a grommet. They are also slightly different sizes. The job I was doing was head gasket, water pump, thermoststat, p gasket, timing belt and radiator stern dose of looking at.
I am surprised at two things: that a radiator could get 20% blocked (according to radiator bloke) in 7 years, and that people think removing a thermostat will do anything toward solving an overheating problem....
I was not surprised that the head was stuffed..... I am accruing a collection of stuffed heads by now!!!

Many thanks for info so far!
So, do I try to work out where they were from and put them back, or ditch them?
