the fan hub spanner is 32mm - i got mine from alltools I think. It was a ford one but works fine!
I remember the first time trying to undo it. I could just not get the nut off as the whole hub would spin - tried all manner of tricks. Thought i needed to fabricate some sort of locking tool. Drove 1.5 hours to my dad's blacksmithing to use the tools and when I got there I demonstrated to the blacksmiths how it would just not come off - but ofcourse the nut came loose first spin....

good luck! 9.5mm drill bit for the fip locking, i undid the crank pulley bolt with a breaker bar against chassis rail, and re-torqued with a 'hand impact wrench'. blackknight's write up is excellent. i also did p gasket while i was there.

The P gasket, so named because of its shape, goes behind the waterpump.

It is notorious for leaking and that usually shows up as coolant on the side of the block under the manifold.

How much did you want to spend?

The worst one I've ever done ran $12k in parts and took 4 weeks, but lets be realistic here In the process of destroying the previous 2 engine my ex had also killed the gearbox and tcase and the radiator and the handbrake, and the rear propshat....

next worse was $3k inparts and 4 days but that turned into a head change when we found a crack radiating from the front rocker post pad and the onwer wanted the head changed as well

usually I recomend a close examination of and attention as requird to

    the radiator
    the hoses
    the intercooler
    the water pump
the VC drive pully mounting bearing
    the AC pullies
    the power steering pump
    the p gasket
    the thermostat
    the rocker cover gasket
    the oil vapour seperator
    the oil
    the filters
    the harmonic balancer
the injectors an leak off line
    the lash caps
the manifold and exhaust gaskets and bolts
    the alternator bearings
    the engine electrical harness
    the engine mounts
    the shocky rubbers
    the serpentine belts
    cleaning the AC condensor
    fitting a low coolant alarm
    the battery
    brake fluid change
    powersteering fluid change

basically a complete 80K Km service and inspection.

and a dose of biocide into the tank if you've only been running around the city and havent thought about it for while
