    TD5 Injector Spring Broken

    Hi Team,
I had to change an injector on my TD5 Disco, which had broken the return spring and spat out the little injector push-rod thingy.
My question is - What can cause an injector spring to break?

I'd had the tappet cover off a few days earlier, to clean the injector harness plugs (usual symptoms - rough idle, low on power). When re-assembled, everything was fine. Idle and power back to normal.

I'm concerned that something I've done was the cause of the injector failure - re-fitting the tappet cover, or not seating a plug properly, or something. But I can't imagine anything that could cause a heavy duty spring to break like that.

    Any ideas?

Don't worry i have seen a few also. These high tensile materials can have tiny imperfections and flaws which can manifest themselves a long way down the road as breakages. The instances are very rare to be fair and it certainly is not caused by anything you may have done. Jc
