    Td5 injector servicing/adjustment

Hi - my D2 Td5 have 210K kms on the original injectors. Not sure what the expected service life of these is and it obviously depends on a wide range of variables?

The engine runs smooth and strong, so I presume there's no point having them serviced/replaced until I detect an increase in roughness or a decrease in power that may be attributable to the injectors. However, I've heard from an old timer that's very familiar with these motors that there's some kind of simple mechanical adjustment to position the injectors that can give a bit more oomph? Nothing in RAVE about this, but if I was going to go to the trouble of removing rocker cover and injectors, then presumably would also be a good time to do a pre-emptive replacement of injector o-rings and sealing washers.

I have several customers with over 400k on original injectors. One other defender has clocked 500+k and is still returning 10l/100 on highway and has no noticeable lack of power. There is no adjustment other than a bump clearance which only needs to be done once. http://www.aulro.com/afvb/technical-...djustment.html.

Yes, IMO at 210k if you remove the rocker cover anyway it would be a good move to replace the washers and seals but if you do that only use genuine stuff and dont mix the injectors cos you'll need coding then... after that you better adjust the clearences, when the seals and washers were replaced on mine the adjusters were completely tight before the adjustment maybe the new washers were thicker or i dunno why

Thanks Justin...so I assume you mean it only needs to be done when first fitting injectors and that they don't go out of adjustment?
