200tdi and a VDO tacho problems

Trying to get my VDO tacho setup on my 200tdi. Got it to kind of work, the tacho is reading about 800rpm too high though (tested what the engine was actually doing with my multimeter the reading I got was 1050rpm yes I know that's a little high for idle but that's a job for later). I've tried the fine adjustment knob, but it's run out of adjustment. I've got an A127 alternator.

Has anyone got any experience with this? Maybe a solution for me?

Which particular model VDO do you have. Some have dip switches to set the initial range then you adjust with the trim pot.

    Thanks Dave,

I posted the same question in my build thread and there has been a bunch of help over there.... haven't fixed it yet but going to give it a go on the weekend.
