    Bridgestone Dueller D694

Gday, i'm considering puting these tyres on my S11 Disco as the original Michi's are very well worn. Has anyone here fitted these in the 235/70-16 size on their Disco/Fender?How do you find them? Are you pleased? Would you recommend them etc etc. Realisticly they will be used 80% road/20% dirt and that will only be dirt roads and fire trails etc.

    Cheers
    Adam

Hi, i had some duelers on my disco, dont know if they were the same or not. They werent to bad, i now have a set of mickey thompson Baja MTX's on my series I now, i simply dont like bridgestone tyres, hate the damn things. I cant really say that much negative about the tyres just didnt like them. Look around there are much better tyres, i am not sure what they are asking for them, but the Cooper A/T's, BFG A/T's, Goodyear A/T's, i have found my Mickey Thompsons to be very good, they have an agressive tread pattern, they are classed as All Terrain tyres, but they are really quiet and handle well on the road. The bridgestone tyres are good, but shop around there are better ones on the market. Matt

I've had the 694's on for almost 20,000km now and am generally happy with them. They are quiet enough on the blacktop and handle rock and sand well. I haven't tried them in mud yet.
The biggest problem I have is having to defend my decision not to buy Coopers or BFG's to those who insist on asking!

Too many people get the Bridgeston tyres mixed up.

There is the original 604V, which is a good tyre, but better suited to older vehicles like the early 90's Defenders.

Then there is the 693, which is in all honesty a really crap tyre. Stay away from them personally.

The 694 is the newer tyre from Bridgestone. They seem to be a fairly reliable tyre like the 604V, but with a newer tread pattern. From what I have seen and observed, they should be good for around 80k and are quite reliable and good on-road. They are an All Terrain, and whilst some people complain about the lack of traction in mud - they aren't a mud terrain.

Personally, both the 604V and the 694 are as good as the BFG's or the Cooper ST.

If you stick with any of these four tyres, I cannot see you having any major problem!

    Cheers
    Chris

Tyre choice is important, and if there was one tyre suits all then we would all buy that, and if people had their way it would be the BFG. I couldnt justify $60x5 when buying my new tyres to warrant getting BFGs, so i bought another reputable brand, the Mickey Thompsons, which come out of the coopers factory anyway. Its all good and well to ask for advice when buying tyres, but in the end everyone will have a differing opinion, one will say a tyre is awsome and the next will say they are absolute crap. Research the tyre, talk to the dealers and make an informed decision, based on research and what will suit your needs. Dont listen to anyone saying you should have bought this or you shouldve bought that, its like the toyo v's Land Rover debate. Matt
