    RRC Rear hubs (with ABS)

Noticed gear oil weeping out across the rear wheel on my 89 RRC so ordered a set of seals and bearing kit. Removed hub and found bearings were perfect. Removed stub axle and found there was no oil seal fitted so bearings were running in the rear axle gear oil. I suppose I could've just fitted a new plastic hub cap, which was split, for a cost of a few dollars and three minutes of my time.
I recall reading that a lot of guys like to forego the stub axle oil seal and prefer to run the bearings in oil. Would be tricky wouldn't it to control oil leaks from the hub grease seals and hub cap? Must be a reason Rover did it with an oil seal.

Those caps suck balls and oiled bearings are boss silicone the new caps on will sort it or aftermarket drive flanges but may not work with some wheels.
