Speedo and header clearance
:?: 2 things, 1. On the way back from Adelaide (400K's) on the weekend towing a car trailer with a 2post hoist in it my speedo dropped for a second near Truro and then on the flats to Blanchetown stopped altogether for a about 3Km's, then just started working again and hasn't stopped since? It had been working pretty hard up thru the hills,(Auto) but should have been cooler when it stopped. No2 i notice the clearance between the exhaust header and the chassis at the engine mount is almost non existant(pass. side) is this normal or is my engine mount stuffed. only up to 130,000k's. Got another day trip to Adelaide this month then Rally of SA in August so i would like any little things fixed before they turn into big things. 97V8i Auto
Any comments?

to check for a broken engine mount...
just put the thing in gear with one foot on the brake and give the engine a blip on the throttle to see if the engine jumps up on one side...
to check the other engine mount do the same as above with reverse gear selected...
as for the speedo.....have a look at the wiring on the transducer on the gearbox.....
if ok...then wait for a permanent failure so you can find the problem...
intermittent faults are sometimes impossible to find....

the speedo cable has two halves which probably join near the firewall and the pedal boxes. check the join to see if it is loose and coming apart or if one end has stripped.

Clearance
Checked another 3.9 manual it has the same clearance, about 5mm to the chassis, so i'm guessing must be normal. Doesn't seem to be any engine movement, just looks close thats all.
