You need a self priming diaphragm pump that can lift the water up out of the jerry. Here's a cheap one or two:

Hi,
I have a brass thread that goes in the tap hole. A plastic pipe goes to the shower head .
Jerry goes on the roof bars, and you're home 'n hosed, so to speak.

Back again, sorry for the extended delay - project back on!!!

I've now got one of those 12v self priming pumps as above, and some blue braided drinking hose. Not got a hand held trigger yet - will a simple gardening one do?
Having a real head scratch though with hose sizes. Brass fitting screws into the Jerry has a click on brass fitting to which the 13mm ID blue hose is attached (easy to disconnect for when the Jerry comes out for refilling). However the pump has barbed 10mm OD inlet and outlet fittings.... And I guess the garden sprayer I may end up with will take a 13mm ID hose too...
So, the pump inlet and outlets are problem at the moment - any ideas????

grab a bit of 10mm id hose bout 2 inches per side of the pump, fit that on, slide the 13mm hose over the top and clamp it on tight.

also check the barbs on the pump, they may be removable if they are just go and buy the rigth size replacements.

Barbs are moulded into the pump.

why not just go the easy way and grab a spare lid, put a loose fitted double sided barb on that and a feed hose that goes into the jerry and hooks up to the pump using straight 10mm hose or better still..

put a 19mm QD hose connection onto the lid, with a blanking cap. put the 10mm hose onto the pump and then just feed it through the barb when you want to use the shower. The big advantage of this is..

1. your pump now has a hose on it so you can use it in a bucket or any jerry or any tank or clean water point.
2. you can put a 13mm hose in through the fitting and do the spyhon feed trick to shower from the jerry
3. if you setup the oultet of the shower pump and the delivery hose properly you can use the same hose and shower head for this
4. if you've done all of that even clerverer you can use the same pump and hose to fill the jerry from streams if you have a jump pack to drive the pump
5. If you have all of that you can have a light, and the pump closer to the shower so you have better control and can use it just as easily at night
6. you can use the barb to pour from the jerry
