Yep. Well, this is my 3rd Discovery and I have been buying a new one every 2-3 years (company car) but I wont be buying another one now.
I love my old Rangie and that is now my serious off-road weapon so next year I will look around for something as an outback tourer. I was looking at the new Nissan Pathfinder but that is just a start.

Go to Steve's manager. I'm sure there's a guy at Ford (albiet in the US) who's keen to see how their newly aquired Land Rover managers are functioning. A manager who threatens customers and fosters a culture of arrogant and threatening customer relations is not good for business.
Don't be angry, just tell them that after consistent and loyal support of the marque, (3 vehicles and club membership - aulro) you felt intimidated and threatened by LRA's responses and were dismayed at their hostile response.
Don't ask for any favours, just report your dismay. See what happens.
Then apply for Steve's job in 2 months time. If you get it, can I have a free Land Rover?

The above correspondence constitutes a legally binding contract, whereby all aulro members who have participated in this discussion up to this point are entitled to a minimum of one free Land Rover if Mr Walker (or whoever it is that identifies himself as such on the aulro.com forum) assumes a senior management position in LRA or any legal entity that this company may develop into, or be controlled by, in the future.
Right, now that we've upped the stakes, I think it's in all our interests to see Adam usurp his nemesis.
The Land Rover / Ford Special Vehicles brochure on the following link clearly shows that customer support should be percieved to be friendly.

Kosovo, Afganistan and Iraq now have No Lemon Land Rovers. Can't wait for this policy to make it south of the Equator.

Here's a link to a SII Disco that was set up for Desert trips by LAND ROVER and it has a 4" Lift!!!!!!!
If they can do it, and boast about it, then they should cover the warranty.

That one was released a few years ago at the SEMA show in the states. It was actually done by SafariGard in the States, not LR. A sweet looking truck!!!!

Same vehicle, same manufacturer. LRA doesn't manufacture, it imports, so saying the car was modified beyond manufacturers standards is a cop out crock. Land Rover have always promoted themselves as manufacturers of vehicles that form a basis for people's personal adaptation for exploration, industry and recreation. There seems to be a customerphobic culture developing in LRA, time for a Series II management structure. Get rid of the flaws and short comings of the current Series I management philosophy.

we had a issue with a warranty claim a few years back
the 110 extreme we had broke down while out 4wd and mud plugging 8O
LR wouldn't honour the warranty claim cause the car was covered in mud
just as my avatar is
so if you remember the add with a defender going through mud up to the headlights
claiming the defender unstoppable/ ever reliable /and rugged
we then wrote a letter to LR claiming the vehicle was advertised as being able to do it
using the advert as proof
and low and behold next day we got a call from LR
the car will be fixed under warranty

Ahhhh the D2, and LR customer care
. This experience has also forced me to never purchase another new LR again. I will go back to an older Rangie me thinks. 8)
Sadly this D2 has given me more trouble than my D1 and older rangies put together. It has never actually left me stranded on the side of the road, but it has had a remarkable amount of troublesome faults, some major, some just annoying. My D2 has spent its 3.5 YRS living in Weipa.
30,000k's of bitumen and 66,000k's of Cape York dirt.(crappy and the best of times).
So the car has earnt its keep but it is supposed to be a capable 4WD.
I wont list the long tale of woe,,,,, but the Front tailshaft has been changed twice, the first was done out of the blue at LR behest,, "there was a problem with discovery's built between ? and ?" but cleverly "not a recall" just product support..... 8O Mine is a Sep 2001 build date.
The second was because the Hookes joint was so loose you could get a clang out of it, I suggested that LR replace it before it destoyed the underneath of my car. These replacements have occured about 30,000K's apart , so I guess I'm overdue a replacement.... and yes it is already showing signs of being loose again.
Now if anyone has the extended five YR factory warranty and havent made a claim yet, get ready for a fight when you do! ABSOLUTE
8O
 8O JOKE

OH AND LR Dont like it if you accidently phone their TECH SUPPORT on

Persist with Customer beware,, umm I mean CARE. Enough threats and you get what they legally owe you as part of you vehicle purchase,,,, DONT LET THEM PUT YOU ON THE BACK FOOT AND HAVE YOU THINKING THEY ARE HELPING YOU>>>>> remind them that if they are ****ed of at listening to your problems, how ****ed of are you at spending $50,000 + just to spend a remarkable amount time talking to a Brick wall.
P.S I have not been able to drive my car since 15JUN05 because my auotmatic gearbox has failed again (3rd time)
ops: . first time LR explained with a staight face, that a TD5 auto cant tow the trailer I own.. 1600KG fully loaded. 8O After yet another fight they conceded that one of the biggest selling points of the disco for a long time was its ability to tow heavy loads. They just fix the box now. But living anywhere outside of a major city,, It takes weeks to get dealer support.. Handy for a 4WD.
And honest I wish I could say I have abused it :? I have simply well used it 8O
Boy have I become bitter about LR's. Weird because I actually love the brand.
